ABOUT US

Welcome to Alane Adams Studios! We started with the simple goal of taking readers on a visual journey through the intricate worlds that Alane crafts across her various series. After producing several award-winning book trailers our goals evolved. We wanted to be an organization that could create fun and engaging content that would not only get kids excited about reading, but would encourage them to create and tell their own stories as well. When the pandemic began in early 2020 we saw a huge need from teachers struggling to find activities for their students to engage with in the sudden shift to distance learning. We immediately began producing a Read Along series of Alane’s popular book The Blue Witch with accompanying worksheets, which proved very popular with teachers and students alike. Seeing the need for ever more high-quality free resources for teachers, we stepped up our production levels and developed a ground-breaking video series Between The Pages and Between The Pages Jr. that brings children into a fully-animated professionally crafted world and teaches them how an idea becomes a story and why reading is a superpower!

Our core mission remains getting kids engaged with and excited about reading and writing. In 2023 we launched our Kids Original program where we turn a writing prompt submitted by students into an animated short.  Learn more about our Kids Originals here. We are also hard at work on the sequel to our first  studio original, Smudge, with more episodes planned. See our studio projects below to watch Episode One.

We are always looking for talented individuals to join our team as we continue to explore avenues of animation and story-telling to ignite a love of reading in children.

STUDIO ORIGINALS

We are so excited to announce the release of our first episode of Smudge, the story of a little inkblot who wants to be more. This studio original was created to inspire kids to follow their dreams and become who they are meant to be. Smudge is an imaginary character who dreams of being an author. Having grown restless waiting for his creator to reveal their purpose, Smudge embarks on a courageous caper to sneak a story of their own design into the mysterious World Book that the Inkling Society, the exclusive cadre of authors who created him, jealously guard. For downloadable ESL worksheets to use in the classroom, please visit Smudge’s Corner here.

KIDS’ ORIGINALS

This special project was a collaboration with fifth grade students from Kelley Elementary in Carlsbad, CA. We asked them to write us a short story about a robot which our team of artists and animators then brought to life. Our goal was to inspire students to see the magic in their stories and to demonstrate how even the simplest writing prompts can turn into powerful storytelling. R.A.K.O the Robot is a Radically Animated Kids Original, and the first of many to come.

This amazing story was written by a trio of sixth graders in Mukwonago, WI  who were asked to write  about a sentient creature fitting into society. Students from all over the country submitted stories but Rufus was our favorite from the start because the story had all the right elements–conflict, fun characters, and a happy ending. Rufus is the most fun project we have worked on to date and the creativity of the students’ imaginations is awe-inspiring.
